About the Author

My name is Jennifer and I live in small town Wyoming.  I have a BA in Classics from CU Boulder, focusing on Roman Religion in the time of the Empire.  (Part archaThis is my corgi Daisy. She's tired out from a walk, but I think that is because her legs are so short!eology, part literature, part history….all nerdy!)  I have been married for 11 years.  We adopted a rescue corgi almost 5 years ago.  Our Daisy is so spoiled and silly.

My family lives in Colorado.  I enjoy spending time with them in Wyoming or in Colorado.  I especially enjoy spending time with our 2 nephews and 4 nieces.  They always have something new to teach me.

I am currently taking courses to obtain my teaching license.  One of these classes is Children’s Lit!  Look for my book reviews and other related posts with the tag “Children’s Lit” for the Fall 2015 semester.

I followed up “Children’s Lit” with “Adolescent Lit” in the Spring 2016 postdirectionssemester.  You can find my book reviews and related posts with the tag “YA Lit” here.

I also love to read on my own.  I am particularly fond of stories that are told from an unexpected point of view.  My favorite of these is Wicked:  The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, by Gregory Maguire.  I love to immerse myself in another world.  I decided to name this blog Oz and Other Lands as a tribute to the many worlds available to me through reading!

Finally, I am growing my PLN through the help of technology.  I participate in an online book club for YA Lit class.  I am also growing my Twitter PLN (you can find me @WyomingJen on Twitter or with #yalitclass) and Pinterest.  I’m also on Goodreads, sharing what I am reading and my reactions to what I read – my Goodreads shelf is to the right on every page.  As always, I welcome your comments and ideas on the blog.
